Administrative Positions

Sawmill Plant Controller
Base annual compensation to $85,000, DOE. Major investor, with over 100,000 acres of prime timberland, has built a new high-tech sawmill complex. Senior management of this new sawmill complex in Colorado is seeking to hire an experienced accountant familiar with all phases of accounting, from log receiving to final customer invoicing and collections. Selected candidate should have a BA in Business or Accounting and at least 4 years in managing accounting services in a sawmill or plywood complex located in the Western US. Besides tracking and managing payables and receivables, selected candidate should be skilled in production reporting, inventory control systems, end of the month and annual financial statements, and short and long range business plans. Hardwood Plywood / Panelboard Division General Manager
Base salary to $145,000 DOE, plus performance bonus and health benefit package. Southeastern private corporation with annual sales of over $200M is seeking a skilled general manager to oversee all phases of $30M plus business unit. This long standing unique hardwood plywood / panelboard operation requires a manager skilled in all phases of a manufacturing/sales operation… raw material, production, maintenance, new equipment installation, shipping, sales, and marketing. The general manager is responsible for total monthly profit/loss for the operating division. This includes total business planning and execution of the business plans (both short and long term). The focus by the business owners is to double sales and profitability in the near future. Selected candidate must have demonstrated success in all phases of business management. A 4-year degree in forest products, engineering, or business is desirable. The owners are seeking a leader who can increase sales profitability by entering new markets and expanding their existing product line, resulting in a two shift operation. (Search Assignment #6416)

Manufacturing Quality Assurance Manager
Annual base compensation to $85,000, plus generous benefit and retirement package.  Multi-mill company, based in the Pacific NW, is seeking a candidate to manage all phases of product quality issues, including development of new products for site specific customers. A 4-year degree in wood technology and/or industrial engineering (including a 5-year track record in QA supervision) is essential. Skillset includes: statistical analysis, PLC utilization in manufacturing operations, and the ability to drive continuous improvement projects in a positive manner. (Search Assignment #6414)

Manufacturing Process Improvement Engineer
Base salary to $80K, DOE. Major integrated forest products firm in Oregon is seeking a qualified Industrial Engineer to focus on improving all phases of the operation using key quantitative manufacturing variables. This job reports directly to the plant manager and exposes the selected candidate to working with all personnel in the plant. Position requires a BS degree in IE or an equivalent education. Major focus is on the use of statistical tools. Candidates should be able to design machine center experimental trials and work with quality control, engineering, maintenance, PLC programmers, and operations personnel. Selected candidate must have a positive track record in current or past manufacturing plant operations. Positive results attained in this job could increase promotion options significantly, since this company focuses on internal promotion versus hiring personnel from outside. Sales and Marketing Positions

Building Products Distribution Sales and Marketing Manager
Base salary to $90K, plus bonus package. Major building products distribution firm, with 6 plus branches in the Midwest, is seeking to hire a skilled sales and marketing candidate for their location in Central Indiana. Selected candidate should have a 4 year business degree, and 5+ years of successful wholesale supervisory experience with home centers and contractor yards. This firm is targeting to expand their distribution branches. Promotion to a Branch Manager is an option for a sales-oriented supervisor, geared to increase sales and profitability for the operation. Lumber Processing Equipment Regional Marketing and Sales Managers 
in the West, Midwest and Southeast US

Annual compensation could exceed $150,000. Due to pending retirements, our lumber processing equipment manufacturing client, based in the Pacific NW, is seeking to expand their regional sales force. This leading-edge company is seeking candidates with a track record in sawmill capital equipment sales, lumber production management, or sawmill consulting services. With annual sales exceeding $20MM, this well financed company is focused on doubling sales over the next few years. Their business strengths in engineering design and capital equipment manufacturing are very strong. Our client’s current customer base represents a significant sales growth potential, lending credence to expanding capital equipment purchases for existing and new customers. The selected candidates will work from their home-based offices. No relocation is necessary.

Our client is seeking candidate prospects with a proven track record in mill hardwood and/or softwood lumber processing improvements. Operations Management Positions

Pacific NW Lumber Operations Manager
Base salary to $100K, plus attractive bonus and benefit package. Due to pending retirement, specialty green lumber sawmill operation in the Northwest is seeking a qualified operations manager to oversee all phases of a specialty high-grade cutting mill. Selected candidate should have experience as a sawmill superintendent focused on safety, operator and maintenance training, and grade recovery. Other skills include production planning, and continuous mill improvement… focused on recovery, and grade sorting. A skillset of being able to communicate well with sales staff is essential. Lumber Operations Support Staff Needed by Forest Products Consulting Firm
Annual income can exceed $100K plus. Well established firm with a track record of many successful design, construction and startups is seeking to expand their staff as a result of two major new sawmill startups. If you have 15+ years of experience in any phase of softwood lumber production, maintenance, or operations and are willing to relocate temporarily to selected northwest plant sites, please email or call Carl Jansen directly. Maintenance and Support Positions

Panel Plant Maintenance Manager
Annual base compensation to $115,000, plus generous benefit and retirement package. Multi-mill company in the Pacific NW is seeking a qualified candidate to oversee all phases of preventative maintenance, capital construction projects, and mechanical/electrical support job cross-training issues. Selected candidate must present a maintenance management record of reducing unscheduled downtime in a manufacturing environment. Candidate should also have a computer-based skillset, including CMMS management, 2D and 3D drawings, AutoCAD, knowledge of federal OSHA regulations, and be skilled in root cause failure analysis applications. This new position reports directly to the plant operations manager. Advancement options within this company are a definite possibility for a proven, results-oriented performer. Lumber Regional Controls PLC Drives Tech Specialist
Base salary to $100K, DOE. Major integrated lumber company in the Southeast is seeking a skilled PLC tech in lumber operations optimization improvements. Selected candidate will oversee/train electricians and PLC techs in troubleshooting and routine maintenance support issues at multiple sawmill sties. Responsibilities also include designing and implementing improved control systems at the sites. This position reports directly to the regional manager and includes direct interface with major PLC vendors. Manufacturing Plant Electrical Supervisor
Base salary to $80K plus, DOE. Mid-South sawmill complex with MSR quality control features is seeking a skilled manufacturing-based supervisor to oversee all phases of preventative maintenance, including PLC upgrades. Skillset includes 5 or more years experience in all phases of electrical maintenance, from low voltage to high voltage machinery applications. Due to a pending retirement, Portland area continuous production plant is seeking to hire a BSEE with 5 plus years experience, focused on updating electrical and electronic control systems in a manufacturing environment. Capital projects range from $50K to $4M+ towards improvements for upgraded new products with current and future customers. Client company is a leading-edge producer of high-quality products for customers in selected markets. Hired candidate’s skill set should include experience with computer aided design, AC and DC drives, and PC-based software systems. Well established forest product project engineering consulting firm in the NW is seeking skilled talent to service new clients focused on efficiently converting logs to lumber. Projects range from preliminary design to final design, construction and startups. CAD Designers can make $3,500+ per week, Project Engineers $4,500+ per week.
